With limited spots and many submitted applications, Canadian SLP programs are forced to turn away many qualified applicants. You may be left shocked and blindsided after receiving a rejection letter. Your question may be, "what do other people have that I don't?"

The Student Spotlight portion of CanadianSLP.com will feature profiles of various SLP students. They will share information about themselves such as some highlights of their application and advice for future applicants.

An SLP application is a combination of your volunteer work, academics, statement of intent and reference letters (clinical and academic). By talking to individuals who have been accepted to Canadian SLP programs, we can learn from their success. You will be able to see what kind of applications catch the eyes of the review committee.

Remember, every university is not necessarily looking for the same thing. Sometimes someone is rejected from one school and accepted to another. Also, the SLP programs are always looking for a diverse selection of applicants; so don't be worried if your profile looks different from the featured students' profiles.
